I am humbled and honored to receive all complements/reviews. This one goes right to the top, because it is from a fellow guide dog user, Jane Sheehan, GDUI. We all know how a word, a sentence, a compliment can brighten someone's day. Thank you, Jane, for brightening my world! I am honored and with her permission share this with you:

On May 25, 2015 Jane Sheehan wrote: Hi Cheryl, I just read Cindy Lou and Sammy Too! What a lovely little book! I went onto a book app I have that searches for books by keyword, and just for kicks, I searched for guide dogs, and there you were! Hey, I know her, I said to myself!

Thanks so much for portraying the guide dog lifestyle so accurately and in such an enjoyable manner!

Rather than read my book word-for-word to Ms. Deam's 1st grade class, I used my illustrations and performed abridged version using my illustration boards.

A student asked: “How do you know all the words in your book?”

I explained that I wrote the book. I had to re-read and edit it several times, which helped me memorize the words.

Thank-you teachers for inviting me into your classrooms.

Need a boost? Stand in front of groups/assemblies of elementary students, and allow them to ask you questions. Nothing is off-limits! I thought it interesting that for the first time, a student told me that I didn't look blind. It was interesting to hear why I don't look blind:

* Your eyes are open. Blind people have their eyes closed.

* You aren't wearing sun glasses.

* Bind people have cloudy or black eyes.

* You are looking at us.

Interesting, right?

I explained to them that not all blind people close their eyes. I explained that I have a little vision and how they may be able to simulate it.

If I was totally blind, I would still be able to look at you when you are talking to me, because I would hear your voice. I explained that sometimes I wear sunglasses because my eyes are sensitive to the light. At that moment, I didn't need them.

I pray bfore each visit, presentation, engagemet..., that I bless them as much as they bless my spirit.

Smile! It will immediately change lift you, and you may be the only smile a person sees today.
